Tai Chi QiGong

The Healing Art and Science of Qigong – Movement, Meditation, and Breath

Qigong (pronounced Chi Kung)is an ancient form of self-healing originating in China. It has been called the mother of Chinese healing and is one the cornerstones of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Qigong is the phonetic transcription of two Chinese characters (Qi and Gong). Qi has been translated to mean vital breath or life energy, often described as the life force that flows through all living things. Gong means to cultivate, work at, or practice.

According to Chinese Medicine, health means a full and flowing supply of qi and a balance between the two fundamental influences of Yin and Yang. When qi does not flow, certain areas of the body have too much energy (Yang condition); other areas have too little energy (Yin condition). This imbalance results in disease. Qigong uses breath control and slow, relaxed motions to increase the flow of qi in the body. Deep breathing provides oxygen to the cells, blood and organs, and helps relax muscles and relieve tension. It also slows the heart rate and quiets the mind. Concentration along with continual movement between Yin and Yang (left to right, forward and back, reaching and bending) helps the qi circulate.

Qigong, then, helps to foster a state of mental and physical wellbeing by restoring balance to the body's life force. With the practice of Qigong, one acquires the skill of cultivating, guiding and inducing the body’s vital energy or qi to promote health and heal disease.

QiGong for Fertility

Qi Gong  is an ancient Taoist exercise that utilizes the breath for relaxation and enhancement of the reproductive organs. Qi Gong literally means, "Energy Cultivation," and refers to exercises which improve health and longevity as well as increase the sense of harmony within oneself.

Regular practice of Qi Gong can:

  • Prevent and treat illness

  • Reduce stress

  • Integrate the mind/body connection

Qi Gong for fertility is a simple and effective technique that can increase the connection between the mind and the body. Similar to Yoga, it helps increase the circulation to the reproductive organs, alleviate stress, and quiet the mind.  The program is unlike any other qi gong class, because the movements, postures, healing sounds, breath work, class exercises and discussions are all specifically designed to support fertility in women and men.

Guided Meditation

Huntington MeditationGuided meditation is a way of enhancing detachment. When you can see your own emotions and thoughts 'from the outside', you can begin to influence the ebbs and flow of your mind. This leaves you less susceptible to unpleasant emotion and more able to reach your potential.

Research has shown that people who meditate regularly are happier and
less prone to depression. This seems to be connected with the fact that
when you meditate you actively use a part of the brain that is
underused during depression.

Meditation differs from hypnosis in that the attention tends to be more
focused with less activity in the mind. Guided meditation can help
those who have never meditated before, or those who are learning, by
helping them reach the desired state quickly and more easily
